For Fashionistas and Movie Lovers!

Costume designed by Phoebe de Gaye, worn by Lara Flynn Boyle as First Lady in Land of the Blind (2006).
Luxurious velvet, soft leather, intricate lace, regal fur, warm wool and cool satin…. Come together in costume design to create cinematic magic, and several eras of costumes are on display for your viewing pleasure in Baton Rouge! While walking through the Louisiana Art and Science Museum’s CUT! Costume and the Cinema Exhibit, I felt like I had been transported through time and into fairytales , mysteries and action thrilling stories.
The costumes at CUT! were cleverly designed to set the scene and reveal character clues about the actors and actresses who wore them. The exhibit features 43 costumes from Blockbuster hits such as Pirates of the Caribbean,The New World, The Phantom of the Opera, Ever After, Casanova, The Duchess, Sense and Sensibility, Sherlock Holmes ,Hamlet, Land of the Blind and Finding Neverland. The costumes are on loan from Cosprop, Ltd., in London, one of the world’s leading costume houses, and LASM is one of a few museums to host this exhibit in North America.
Admission to CUT! Costume and the Cinema is free for LASM members. Memberships may be renewed or purchased at the door. For information on nonmember and group rates, and to learn more about the exhibit, visit lasm.org. The exhibit closes on July 31.
