Bite Club King Cake Challenge TODAY!

The big day is finally here!  Today at 5:30 in Studio 7 at Hollywood Casino, the Bite Club Challenge Series will officially be launched.  Today’s challenge:  King Cakes!  The public is invited to this blind tasting where judges will name the Best King Cake in Baton Rouge!

The 12 person judging panel will be made up of media, both traditional and online, and a few average Joes.  The judges are:  Lynsey Gwin, Shannon Lane, Whitney Breaux, Kelly Spell, Cheramie Sonnier, Brad Grantham, Scott Rogers, Celeste Gill, Erin Zaunbrecher, Jeremy Wells and Rachael Upton.

The traditional category will include entries from Ambrosia, Gambino’s, Cal’s Bakery, Port Allen Bakery, Forte Grove, Strand’s, Albertson’s, Ralph’s Market,  Calandro’s, Thee Heavenly Donut and Matherne’s.  Non-traditional entrants are Sweet Wishes Cafe, Handmade at Homestead, A Coffee Truck, Party Pops BR, Brew Ha Ha, Bistro Byronz, and Community Coffee.

We are really excited to be teaming up with Jay Ducote, author of Bite and Booze for this event!  Tommy Talley of Tommy’s TV and @acoffeetruck will be providing video services for the event and serving up coffee from A Coffee Truck! We hope to see lots of our friends from the Baton Rouge Social Media Club!  Please tag tweets with #KingCakeBR.
